The funding call is intended to support the transformation process towards a “Green Economy”. It is about increasing the implementation-oriented research and innovation potential in six innovation fields.
North Rhine-Westphalia has a dense university and research landscape as well as a strong, medium-sized industry. In order to hold their own in international competition, they depend on constant innovation impulses. Against this background, the state government and the EU have launched the new “Research Infrastructures.NRW” funding competition.
The aim is to increase the implementation-oriented research and innovation potential as well as the application-oriented strengthening of research, technological development and innovation in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). This is to be achieved by supporting investments in research and innovation capacities that have a high relevance for the economy and the population in NRW. The competition is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises, research and educational institutions, municipal companies and institutions as well as foundations, associations and chambers.
In addition, a project must clearly contribute to the six fields of innovation, according to the Regional Innovation Strategy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia 2021-2027 (RIS NRW) with a “cross-innovation” approach, as well as serving at least two fields of action.
The funding competition “Research Infrastructures.NRW” is implemented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy together with the Ministry of Culture and Science, the Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport and the Ministry of Agriculture and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia under the auspices of the European Regional Funding (ERDF/JTF Program NRW 2021-2027).
