The road to cybersecurity is a marathon that you don’t have to walk alone. There are many opportunities to share experiences, tap into knowledge and get ideas.
These days, a cyberattack can hit any company, regardless of industry or size. The resulting economic damage can threaten the very existence of companies. That’s why companies need to take special care to protect their data,
so as not to provide potential attack surfaces for hackers. How dependent even small companies are on digital solutions often only becomes apparent when they fail. And how unfavorable it is when sensitive data falls into the wrong hands is sometimes only noticed when it is already too late.
The aim of the “Cybersecurity” event on March 22, 2022 was to show companies from the mechanical and plant engineering sector what options are available to protect themselves against attacks on corporate IT.
In his presentation, Steffen Zimmermann, Head of the Industrial Security Competence Center at VDMA, gave an overview of daily practice in the broad field of IT and information security. Thomas Völker, head of the VSMA’s cyber insurance department, presented the VSMA’s cybersecurity insurance. Following a presentation by Wolfgang Straßer, Managing Director, @-yet GmbH, a live demonstration of a digital attack was presented in a practical example by Nico Jansen, Resulter at @-yet, simulating a live cyber attack.
Arbnor Memeti, Digital Security Consultant at the Competence Center for Cyber Security Digital.Sicher.NRW, presented the Competence Center and its free support services for small and medium-sized enterprises. Among the services offered by the Competence Center are initial consultations for companies and events on important cybersecurity topics and explicit recommendations for action.
