Talent & Education

Demographic change and the declining number of younger age groups present the mechanical and plant engineering sector in North Rhine‑Westphalia with the challenge of attracting young talent at an early stage and inspiring interest in technical professions. Attractive vocational training, modern career guidance and a realistic picture of industrial occupations are key prerequisites for engaging young people in the industry.

At the same time, the expectations of Generation Z are changing, as are skills requirements driven by digitalisation, automation and sustainability. Future skills and practice‑oriented qualification programmes are becoming increasingly important, as are cooperation initiatives with universities and educational institutions.

ProduktionNRW supports companies in approaching the recruitment of young talent strategically and in making targeted use of education‑ and university‑based partnerships.
