New industrial policy model for a strong North Rhine-Westphalia

Together with leading business associations, chambers and social partners, the state government has revised and further developed the industrial policy mission statement for North Rhine-Westphalia. The aim is to secure the state’s competitiveness in the long term and to position North Rhine-Westphalia as a climate-friendly and digital industrial centre for the future.

Clear political framework conditions and long-term prospects for industry in the state are needed to successfully meet the challenges ahead. The new mission statement is the result of a constructive dialogue between 14 associations, chambers, social partners and the state government. It describes the cornerstones of a resilient and future-orientated industrial policy for North Rhine-Westphalia. Over the past two years, key areas of action have been intensively discussed and further developed – focussing on the following topics

  • Investment climate,
  • innovations,
  • Circular economy,
  • climate & energy,
  • digital infrastructure,
  • land development,
  • bureaucracy reduction and
  • securing skilled labour.
Outlook

Industry in North Rhine-Westphalia is facing far-reaching transformation processes. An attractive investment environment, the expansion of infrastructure and research as well as a reliable supply of energy and raw materials are crucial to successfully mastering these processes. The state government will therefore continue to work closely with business, science and society in the future – for a strong, innovative and sustainable industrial state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
