North Rhine-Westphalia is positioning itself as a leading innovation location in Europe by utilising the innovation potential of its many research institutions in a targeted manner to strengthen the regional economy. A central concern is the intensification of co-operation between science and industry, whereby the state actively promotes partnership-based co-operation between universities and companies. In addition to improving demand-orientated transfer, start-ups from universities and professional patent exploitation in particular play a decisive role. Representatives from business, science and politics will discuss this topic at this specialist event “Zukunftswege NRW”. The event is organised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The new Skilled Labour Immigration Act came into force in stages from November 2023. It creates new pathways for the immigration of skilled workers from third countries, facilitates entry for people without formal professional recognition and expands the options for finding a job. Procedures are also to be speeded up and made less bureaucratic. The most important changes and their significance for companies and skilled workers will be presented in an online seminar. The event is organised by Cologne-based IQ – Integration through Qualification funding programme, which is supported by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the European Union via the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus).
The trip begins with a program in Tokyo and then focuses on the Smart Manufacturing Summit Aichi with the Nagoya metropolitan area. Aichi Prefecture is a manufacturing stronghold in Japan with major companies in the engineering and automotive industries. As such, the region is also one with the highest innovation potential. Against the background of a rapidly shrinking population, automation and smart manufacturing play an even more important role in Japan than they do here. Japan is the benchmark for German industry in Asia, a strong competitor on the world markets with great potential for cooperation and business partnership. The company trip is an event organized by NRW.Global Business.
