Funding competition “Industry.IN.NRW – Innovative Materials and Intelligent Production

The innovation competition “Industrie.IN.NRW – Innovative Materials and Intelligent Production” supports the North Rhine-Westphalian economy and science in closing and more comprehensively mapping the value chain from materials production to processing and utilization. The aim is to find competitive innovations that can be used to (further) develop world-marketable products and provide solutions for the transformation of industry. Funding is to be provided primarily to small and medium-sized companies in collaboration with partners from science and research, as such collaborative projects are expected to have a particularly high innovation potential and the greatest possible innovative, economic and employment-promoting effects.

The competition focuses on further developments in the field of innovative materials and the optimization of materials and processes, as well as entirely new technology routes that are intended to lead to more efficient and sustainable solutions. The development and introduction of new materials, which in turn form the basis for further innovations, are inconceivable without their integration into networked manufacturing processes. In the area of smart production, new production processes and products are sought in particular that go beyond incremental innovations. In the context of transformation, this includes the digitization of products, processes and production systems with the aim of achieving better resource utilization and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Special attention is also to be paid to products, processes and procedures that enable climate-neutral ways of working in other areas (strengthening the enabler function).

The Industrie.IN.NRW innovation competition is being implemented under the auspices of European regional funding (ERDF/JTF Program NRW 2021-2027) by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MWIKE) in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Science (MKW) and the Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport (MUNV).
