New INTERREG call: Over 38 million euros in EU funding for cross-border projects in NRW, Belgium and the Netherlands – focus on green transformation and future topics.
The fifth call for projects of the INTERREG Meuse-Rhine EU funding program has been open since 1 July 2025. Over 38 million euros in EU funding is available for this funding round.
In contrast to the previous calls, projects can now finance up to 60 percent of their total costs from EU funds. The remaining 40 percent must be borne by the project partners through co-financing or own funds. In principle, it is also possible to apply for additional NRW co-financing. However, their approval depends on the state’s interest in the respective project.
Among other things, the fifth call focuses on the green transformation. In addition, projects in the priority areas newly defined by the European Commission are expressly welcome:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Defense & Innovation
- Green and blue infrastructure
- Critical raw materials
- Labor market
The topics of industrial change and critical raw materials are particularly relevant for circular value creation.
Projects that address one of these central topics and at the same time ensure cross-border cooperation between partners from Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany are eligible for funding.
Interested parties can contact the program’s regional antennas with questions about the call. They will support applicants in preparing and submitting their projects.
The regional antenna for North Rhine-Westphalia is located in Aachen.
